So it seems like a lot of people know about Improv Everywhere who do the MP3 Experiments.

Well, I've been wanting to participate in one FOR AGES now, but they were only taking place in New York.

And then, one day in August, they came to San Francisco!

(Tracked tag on Tumblr for other people's pictures since I didn't take any)

SO MUCH FUN!

Went with [livejournal.com profile] jedisurvivor (the BF) and [livejournal.com profile] ky313 (the Sister), we all wore blue shirts and had blue balloons and generally had a great time! My favorite part was when we all froze in place for a minute because the first video I ever saw of them was the frozen Grand Central Station one.

It was in Union Square which is actually a pretty small area and there turned out to be thousands of people who showed up. I think they underestimated the numbers. But the funniest part was when I looked up at the Macy's building, which is covered with tall windows, and saw EVERY ONE OF THEM filled with spectators! It was quite the sight. I imagine it was for them too!

And the creator of Improv Everywhere was there too! Sister said she saw him participating somewhere in the large crowd!

I'm really hoping there's a video for it, the people in charge tend to make official videos for the even the touring experiments.

Totally doing it again if it comes back around!

THERE IS A REASON MCR IS MY FAVORITE BAND.

THEY ARE PERFORMERS.

THEY ALL LOOKED AMAZING.

AND MIKEY HAD A SHINY GUITAR. WITH RHINESTONES. (Or something similar, I wasn't close enough)

AND I WISH I COULD HEAR FAMOUS LAST WORDS LIVE ALL. THE. TIME.

Non-capslock recap:

Long line outside when sister ([livejournal.com profile] brinabean) and I got there, we weren't at the end for very long, though, and someone in a nearby apartment stuck speakers out the window and played MCR songs. Rushed to as far front as we could get which was probably about 12 feet away from the stage (not as good as 6 feet away like last time, but I'm small and can only do so much :> )

Crowed squished together during the opening acts: The Architects and Neon Trees! (Now a fan of Neon Trees!)

I was almost crushed multiple times but eventually people got bored of that and mostly stayed in one place. There wasn't much room to mosh, thankfully (I am fragile and avoid those like the plague.)

LOTS OF BRUISES AND BATTLE WOUNDS. AND CHUCKS REALLY ARE GOOD SHOES TO WEAR TO CONCERTS BECAUSE THEY PROTECT YOUR TOES!

Sucky thing: Girls with FREAKIN BIG HAIR. There should be a memo for girls going to rock concerts to wear low ponytails or something, I kept getting other people's hair in my face. Also, tall people. :(

BUT THAT'S OKAY BECAUSE I JUMPED AROUND A LOT SO I HAD AN EXCUSE TO PUSH THEM OUT OF MY WAY. RARR.

MCR concerts are always an experience! Did songs from all albums and Planetary Go was SO MUCH FUN I CANNOT EVEN DESCRIBE. Hope they come around again soon!

After concert adventures:

Got on the wrong freeway after stopping to buy water for our dehydrated selves. But it was okay when we found out there was a junction coming up. Then we talked too much and missed it and ended up 15 minutes away and had to turn around.

THEN, something started making noise near the front right wheel and there was no place to pull over because of road construction and it was dark and I couldn't see what it was.

Finally found a bright parking lot in a safer town than Oakland and realized PART OF THE TIRE WAS COMING OFF.

Luckily, sister and I are awesome and know how to change a tire. NO TOW TRUCK FOR US. WIN.

Drove slow the rest of the way home and finally got back around 2am.

AND GOOD TIMES WERE HAD BY ALL.

(I should also mention that these sorts of things happen when me and sister are going somewhere. WE HAVE ACCIDENTAL ADVENTURES.)

So, the BF ([livejournal.com profile] jedisurvivor) and I were up at 4:30 this morning so he could be on TV! As much as I love sleep, there was no way I was going to miss seeing a TV station set. We got a tour and saw everything/everyone in action!

Some backstory: There's a guy who recently joined our theatre who works for CW network, he's also Lt. Brannigan in our show, Guys & Dolls. He's been getting the casts of each show since he joined onto the morning show, Good Day Sacramento as a way to promote the Theatre!

There's video! (BF is "Rusty Charlie", the one in the brown suit!)

An update?

hazelbite: (OTHER: Kill the beast!!!)
Okay so wow, finally posting!

Let's see...since the last time I updated:

I found a new full time job which sounded awesome until I found out it was selling vacuums on commission door to door. So not my thing. I stuck it out for a week because I don't like to give up easily but realized that if a job is on the verge of giving me panic attacks than I should get out.

I auditioned for Six Flags Fright Fest again, the last time I did it was in 2002. Thought my audition was 'eh' even though they were impressed by THE REALLY AWESOME THINGS that I can do to my voice when I'm screaming. Said they'd call me in for call backs a week later if I got in. Didn't hear a thing so I figured they didn't need me.

So I planned to go to a wedding that I wouldn't have been able to make if I had been in Fright Fest! It's in San Diego and The Boy's best friend is getting married. He's in HER wedding party (like that movie!) I'm busing down there (12 HOURS!!) because it's cheaper than flying but I don't care because I LOVE going to weddings :D So my adventure starts early Friday morning!

Ahaha, so here's where it gets crazy (as though it hasn't already!) the day AFTER I book my bus tickets, I check my work schedule and GUESS WHO IS IN FRIGHT FEST AFTER ALL??? Thing is, NO ONE called to tell me I was in it, which apparently happened to some other people too. So I'm torn between YAY! they liked me after all and OH CRAP I HAVE NON REFUNDABLE TICKETS ON THE DAYS I'M SCHEDULED. Man, I may dislike working at a theme park some days but when they rush to work out my schedule with me, how can I hate them?

So now I'm going to San Diego AND getting to be in Fright Fest. Score.

Only thing left to do is find a second job because I figure that having two minimum wage jobs is like having ONE that pays $16 an hour!

Here is an abstract of an article about the artifacts I'm currently helping to catalog.

It's not the whole article, so I'm trying to figure out how to get the rest of it!

So I'm totally going to Yaoi-con with [livejournal.com profile] brinabean in September. And possibly doing cosplay again, depending on the crowd!

I am super excited about this!

Highlights from Memphis!

+Saw Jesse Jackson! We watched him film part of a documentary (I think) at the Civil Rights Museum! I'm keeping a look out for it, we only found out that it was being done by the Associated Press, nothing else.

+Two guys sat next to me in the Memphis airport. One of them happened to be the guy who won an Oscar for the screenplay Rainman in 1988. Didn't talk to him, was too shy, and by that point a whole bunch of people had crowded around to see the Oscar. (Pondering whether I should watch the movie sometime)

+Graceland is SO SHINY. Sadly, my battery died before I could get pics of the costumes (which are my fave!) Pictures on Facebook. Also, I want Elvis' basement bar, for the record.

+THE RIBS OMG. I am now addicted to ribs! Had them three night in a row.

+BEALE ST. IS SIMPLY AMAZING. I want to go back. We all went to Silky's, and Irish pub and piano lounge. Piano guy played Great Balls of Fire AND STOOD ON THE BENCH AND PLAYED WITH HIS FOOT. We chatted with him afterward, he's a fun guy :D

+Found out that the more drunk I am, the more I start to talk with a southern accent.

-If I had flown back to LAX during the day, we would have had an AMAZING view of the Grand Canyon, considering we flew right over it. *sigh* One of these days I'll get to see it.

+Presentation was easy-peasy and now I have something else to add to my resume!

Highlights from Disneyland!

+ THE BLUE BAYOU. We all finally got to eat there! Even one of us who grew up in the area had never been. Scarily expensive but SO WORTH IT. Our waiter was awesome and let us steal have a menu, lol. We tipped him extra.

+Cafe Orleans still has the best beignets EVER.

+Finally managed to do a complete mountain run. Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, Matterhorn, all in one night. [livejournal.com profile] socalcharger even managed to do a DOUBLE run somehow. We haven't been able to this before because one of the rides would always be closed down.

+Didn't quite make it over to Pirate Cove (which took over Tom Sawyer Island) but it LOOKED cool.

-It was cold and rainy in the morning and chilly most of the day. This made splash mountain a bit of an annoyance, lol

-Had to DASH to the Aladdin show so we wouldn't miss it and had to sit in the Mezzanine again. Never sit in the Mezzanine for that show, btw, it ruins all the magic :(

I hope I'm not forgetting anything! Good night!

Mario!

This rocks.

hazelbite: (Carry on)
I've been trying to post about this for a bit now, but I'm on pirated internet at the moment so it's kind of picky as to when it well work for me. That's also the reason I haven't been on AIM much lately.

Anyway! On Thursday I went with Nora to the city to see Cirque du Soleil KOOZA! This trailer gives some idea as to what it looks like but it's no where near the actual awesomeness of the show live. Let's see, wheel of death was one of my favorites and the high wire guys made me so nervous! There was probably the BEST juggling act I've ever seen and some dancing skeletons! The clowns were hilarious and the contortionists were...well, let's just say I didn't know people could bend like that O.o

All in all a fantastic show, I wish it had been longer!

Just got back from the city tonight as well. Went to the Cafe Du Nord because the four of us had a craving for music that was live and NOT hip-hop. I had heard a lot of great things about Cafe Du Nord, so now my recommendation can join the others! I also liked the fact that they played MCR in between bands :3

The place is doubly awesome for this little detail: "...its past life as a notorious speakeasy during Prohibition." (!!!)

I really want to go to this field school.

I just sent them an email and I'm crossing my fingers that it won't be too expensive for me.

Because seriously, how cool is mortuary archaeology? Here's me still on a search for an emphasis :D

Henna!

Like a week ago, I found a Henna kit that I'd had for a while but had forgotten about.

So I decided to try some designs! )

Oh yeah, did I mention that my finals are over?

+ Why hello thar new music obsession! I heard the music of Antonio Pontarelli this weekend: 11/18/2007 - 3PM - Children’s Miracle Network Torch Relay Gala Event, Kodak Theatre Complex Center, Hollywood, CA, Headling Band

Bri and I were standing on a second floor walkway at the theatre trying to get a good view of the Hollywood sign when she got distracted by him playing the violin. Deciding that music was much more entertaining than trying to get a picture of the hollywood sign through the smoggy glory that is L. A., I started recording the performance on my camera! Well...see for yourself! The quality isn't that great cause it's from my digital camera but...

Also, LOOK MA I'M (ALMOST) FAMOUS!!! )

+ Also, TRUE STORY. Apparently I met Miss California that same day too and had no idea who she was. I was trying to find where I could buy a CD of the band above and she was the closest one to the table. She was all HI!!! :D!!!!!! and I asked her where I could buy the CD and she said she wasn't sure and pointed to the nearby table looking a bit confused and I was all "Why is she wearing a tiara????" And then another lady came up to her and said "you're Miss California, right?" and I was all um....oops? It's not my fault I don't watch pageants!!!!1 lolz

+ FINALLY got to visit Grauman's Chinese Theatre (pics at my facebook). Squeed over Johnny Depp's footprints and fangirled over Abbott and Costello's. And, Rupert Grint wears chucks, how awesome is he?

+ Also, random, just saw the Enchanted trailer. Must remember to go see that. Also, Sweeney Todd.

+ Bri's Oireachtas was INSANE with people. And awesome dancers.

+ The Mummy ride at Universal is so much fun! The back lot had two movies in production, one with Angelina Jolie and the other with Adam Sandler, but I can't remember the names. I fangirld over seeing the flying mule from Serenity, though :D

+ Sadly did not get to meet Michael Shanks. Got to L. A. too late due to traffic :( I will never complain about Norcal traffic EVER AGAIN.
