So. Yesterday, this happened:

I WON!! TWO DAYS EARLY, EVEN!!

50,223!

Of course, it's mostly crap and isn't even a completed story (there's no ending) but I ACTUALLY FINISHED NANOWRIMO FOR ONCE.

Letting it sit for December and then the editing process begins in January!

These are quite important names too...and some geography! (except the title...I suck at titles)

Antagonist:
Joris Lanal is trying to create The Empire of Sight in the nation of Shalddar (the one the Five Nations are at war with).

To the west of the Five Nations are The Whistling Mountains. There is a main pass (Quarryn Pass) through these to reach The Salt Wastes or, The Wastes for short. You have to cross this barren land to get to Iskassa, the Salt Empire, where they export salt to the Five Nations and speak the Sikke language.

The Mug and Bottle is Nolan's favorite tavern.

Plena/Kelne family (tenant farmers on Merrin land):
Parents names: Anite Kelne and Riben Plena
Mauna Kelne (the oldest child) is engaged to Tomen Nasodoro

Tilden Salotara: Retired fire elemental. Mentor to Kerris.
Jornel Addare: Gaurdian. Mentor to Nolan.

Rianne Enaro: Gifted seer
Dasha Tilar: Gaurdian

Marek Assirra: Gaurdian
Lorette Koryk: Gifted weather elemental

Steward to the Gifted: Olirin Lusald

The three most popular insults in Aswynn are:
Skullknocker
Muckwipe
Fob

So I'm going all out this November for Nanowrimo and writing something original for a change! This is my experiment to see if I can finish it when it's not fanfic...either that or I'm just lazy, I guess I'll find out :D

I'm super excited about this idea, though. It's fantasy based and has been badgering me for a about a year now, so I have lots of details figured out already.

So anyway, here's a character sheet for my main and secondary characters! Some spaces I left blank because I haven't figured them out yet. Still a WIP!!
Character chart found here.

A quote that I rather like from my Nano fic:

“You're going to have to sign a non-disclosure form, you realize,” Hermione said with the kind of grin that had made Harry fear her during their exams back at Hogwarts.

Anyway, [livejournal.com profile] brinabean and I are doing IM Nano-ing tonight. As many words as we can to try and catch up.

Wish us luck!

Off to vote, be back later! :D

ETA: Back! No lines, I must have missed the lunch rush or RP just has a lot of polling places O.o

Anyway, I was telling people about this but while I was driving around last night, we stopped in front of Safeway and saw an amusing sight. There were a bunch of "Yes on 8" and "No on 8" people sharing a corner of sidewalk. Peacefully, as far as I could tell, which had apparently started off earlier in the day with one person holding a "Yes" sign and more people showing up later. It was too dark and I wanted to get a picture of it but all I had was my camera phone and that didn't work too well. But it was a pretty amazing sight to witness firsthand!

In the world of NaNo, I'm behind a day due to a visit from the boyfriend (!!!) but I plan to make as much of that up as I can tonight while watching election coverage. Am also looking forward to Stewart and Colbert's Indecision '08 team up tonight! (Although I'll miss the first bit because I have to work :( )

Oh yeah, free Starbucks for voting? I'M SO THERE.

Tiny!ETA: THIS PICTURE OMG!

Day 1!

I survived my first day of Nano and with a solid first day word count of 1807 no less!

Now let's hope I can keep this up ALL month ^^

I was very amused while I was typing because I told my sister [livejournal.com profile] ky313 that I kept wanting to hit the backspace key because I'm an edit-as-I-go writer so she kept stopping me from using it by hiding it with her hands and making disapproving noises everytime I went for it...and it actually helped! So yay! Thank you Ky :D
