My Chemical Romance's Black Parade tour is fucking AMAZING.

It's definitely the best concert I've ever been to. Go if you get the chance :D

All the tour dates. I am SO tempted to go to the one in Oregon in May now...

A group of six of us (in this post referred to as M, C, H, K, and D) drove to Reno Friday morning, waited in line for twelve hours (I was the 28th person in line, I still have the number sharpied on my hand and I'm not taking of my floor wristband until it falls off) and managed to snag front row floor space along the railing. M and C worked their way to front and center somehow but the rest of us were a little farther to the right.

It was sort of a combined show I think. MCR was the headliner, of course, with Rise Against opening for them, but Taking Back Sunday was there, too, with Underoath as their openers.

Underoath played first. They were okay, but definitely not my favorite band in the world. Rise Against was second and I am determined to see them at their own concert at some point (the sister agrees :D) I can't believe I've never listened to Taking Back Sunday before, so I'll have to fix that now :D

Roadtrip! We left Vallejo at about 4am and drove nonstop to Reno. Every concert they go to, H and M arrive at the location early and are pretty skilled at getting to be first in line. A few other people got there first this time but we were near enough to the front that we weren't too worried about it.

So commenced the twelve hour wait. It was freezing at first so we all shivered while eating breakfast in line. Ten o'clock came around and everyone waiting out front got a number (there were 61 of us at this point, and everyone who came after had to wait behind us, cutting wasn't a problem, because they weren't let in without numbers).

We all got a little burnt between noon and three, but the shade eventually came back and a local radio station appeared that made camping out in line become much less tedious.

Skipping ahead...once past security, we all booked it inside and staked out front row spaces and waited for one more hour before the show started.

Okay, so here is where the show spoilers begin...

Act one (aka. The Black Parade)

The End and Dead! were played back to back first. A hospital bed was wheeled out and Gerard started singing and then threw back the sheet he was hiding under before throwing off the hospital gown to show the Black Parade costume. Then the curtain was pulled away to show off the gorgeous set that had lights set up to resemble stars and a city skyline in the background, but the thing that caught my eye was the drum set. It looked like it was made out of gold and crystal and I stared at it for quite a while before realizing what I was doing :D

There were also an insane amount of pyrotechnics that were so hot even from where we standing that I wondered how Bob could stand them (he was right by them).

There was confetti! Lots of confetti!

And explosion noises!

And Gerard came over to our side of the stage way more than the other side!

Oh! And then Gerard said something about their last song, which made me sad because I didn't want them to leave, and the curtains closed and Blood was playing in the background (everyone sang to it!) I hoped that they would come back on because the lights hadn't been turned back on yet. A good sign.

Act Two (aka. Revenge)

They came back and did songs from Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge.

C had gone to their concert in Oakland the night before and said that they didn't do as many songs as they did in Reno. Gerard himself said that this was their last US performance for a while because they were going to be touring Europe next. So we all figured that that was the reason for the extra songs (even if it actually wasn't :P we're not sure ) but you didn't hear me complaining!

During the first act, I hardly knew any of the words to the songs, so I felt left out that I couldn't sing along but when they came back on, I was singing them all.

Let me see if I can remember which ones they did...

I believe they started with I'm Not Okay (I Promise) but I'll have to listen to the CD at some point to remember the rest of them.

I DO remember Helena, though. I would have been very disappointed if they hadn't played it because this was the song that made me a fan of theirs. I was ecstatic that it was the very last song of the night, great way to close the show!

Other highlights of the trip/show:

+Watching the sunrise over the snow covered Sierra-Nevadas while driving to Reno.

+On the freeway, following and trying to look inside what M and C SWORE were tour buses for the bands.

+Finding out that they actually WERE the tour buses and found out where they were parked in Reno and yelling hello to the drummer from Underoath. C, K, and D came back sometime later saying they had seen Gerard too.

+Stealing Liberating event posters from the walls.

+Sleeping on cement in the sun.

+Sleeping for two hours at some random rest stop in the Tahoe National Forest and trying not to freeze.

+Listening to C tell us about grabbing the lead singer from Underoath's ass when he jumped into the crowd.

+Gerard shaking his ass on stage and making the noise level of the screaming girls increase about ten times over (yes, of course I was one of them!)

Guess I'll end on that lovely note!
