Day the Fourth
Nov. 21st, 2005 06:01 pmI totally forgot that I was going to post these things from my trip way back in June. Figured that I should finish posting all of the entries (and I'm finally getting some free time from school and work!)
Same thing applies: You don't have to read this if you don't want to, I'm mostly doing it for my own record.
Day the First
Day the Second
Day the Third
Tourist’s Log: Day the Fourth, Tuesday
Thought we were going to Rock City today but we ended up going to the Tennessee Aquarium instead. Let me just say that the Monterey Bay Aquarium has nothing on this one! The place has two separate buildings each three stories tall. One is called underwater journey, the other is river journey. You take the self-guided tours throughout all three floors seeing the most amazing fish and other sea life, some of which I’ve never seen before. The weirdest one was the leafy sea dragon sea horse that looked so much like seaweed that I wasn’t sure what it was as first until they started moving. It was the weirdest thing I’ve ever seen.
On the way up and back to Chattanooga, I read Faerie Wars. It started off a bit slow but it got better and by the time I finished it, I realized that I really enjoyed it. To my delight, I found out that there is a sequel called The Purple Emperor. I. Must. Read. It. Now! Hmmm, I know there is a bookshop in town because I saw it earlier. Now only to get my dad to drive me. I would myself but I’m not allowed to dive the rental and I have a sucky sense of direction, even at home.
Anyway, on the way to the aquarium we stopped at the Unclaimed Baggage Store in Scottsboro AL. That place is really fun, I got some used CD’s for $3.50 each. I’m listening to my new Beethoven as I write this, as a matter of fact. Also. Score! I had no idea there was a soundtrack for Muppet Treasure Island, but joy! There is! Which, now that I think about it, shouldn’t be all that surprising, I mean, there are songs in the movie and all that! Anyway, because I’m such a dork and I like reverting back to my childhood, I bought it. I’ve always loved the Muppets and Treasure Island is one of the few children’s movies that I still like to watch, so that’s got to be saying something :D
Anyway, listened to that earlier as well. Also found the soundtrack to Indiana Jones the Last Crusade, which is a bit of a coincidence since we only just watched that movie last night. Also found some new headphones for my CD player because the old ones were on their last leg and ended up not surviving the flight over. Only $3.50, too! Love that place, though it would suck if any of my stuff ended up there. Heh. We only got to stay about 45 minutes, though, because the guys (as in, my dad and uncle) don’t like shopping much. :D
Anyway, we’re heading up North into Illinois on Thursday to visit the rest of the relatives.
I love otters now, I’ve decided. We saw one at the aquarium today, and they are so adorable! Now I can see why they are JK Rowling’s favorite animal.
*Fun HP fandom-y related fact* The otter is part of the Weasel family. Hermione’s patronus is an otter. I’ve known this for a while but JKR really does have a reason for everything, even though she’s said so herself and all that. Hey, I ship Ron/Hermione because she does...which makes it canon and I always ship canon. Sure Harry/Hermione shippers can hope but fanon is the only it will happen. *Is a proud defender of all thing HP canon*
Hmm, wow I was wondering when one of my entries would turn in something about HP.

on 2005-11-22 09:29 am (UTC)That store is awesome, there were even some huge televisions, they must have been lost by some company. It's amzing the things that airlines lose.
