May. 14th, 2005 05:20 pmWoo hoo! I just bought advanced tickets for Star Wars! I'm going with
ginnaveve a.k.a. my sister, on thursday the 19th at 3:50! Sooooo excited! Wheee!
Annnnnnd, my finals start next Friday, all except for Nutrition 'cause I don't have a final in that class! YAY! (!!!)
I'm going to watch Hogan High's drama production of Tartuffe tonight. Should be bundles of fun! I'm so glad I got today off work! :D
Anyway, the real reason I'm posting is 'cause I went to the Vallejo Band Festival this morning with
ginnaveve to support Hogan High and Franklin Middle (
fictionfreak911 marches with them). It was so much fun! So. That means...Pic Spam!...with commentary. :P
Now, this first one is of Hogan colorguard. Since Hogan was one of three Host schools (other two Vallejo High and Jesse Bethel High), they are not marching to compete. Still fun to watch, though.

Now here comes the band itself, yay! Would you look at those files.

Another of the same, only close up this time.

This is fun! Look at those ranks and diagonals.

This is sad. Only two flutes and one piccolo? No! They need more flutes! Represent the flutes!

Funny thing, though, I got to talking with the guy who plays the piccolo and he was all "You look familiar!" and I was all, "I was going to say the same thing about you!" Turns out he happens to be the younger brother of one of my friends from sixth grade. Rock.
*ahem* Anyway. I really love this next picture. It shows off the back of the uniforms with "Spartans" down the back. Love the uniforms. And the shakos. I do miss the berets, though.

And now onto Franklin Middle School. Heh. Their letters are FMS so, of course, when I saw the ID coming down the street, I was thinking...Hmmm. FMS. Now if they were the Franklin Middle Academy, their letters would be FMA... And there you have it. Insight into my lovely thought process. Good times.

So. Yeah. Here's the band itself. Ahhh, the memories! I miss marching. *sniffle* I don't know why they aren't wearing the uniforms, though. I had to wear the uniform when I was there. Pssh.

This next one has got to be my favorite out of all of these. See:

They are all in step! It's beautiful! Look at those ranks!
And now for the final parting pic:

*waves*
(
ginnaveve, pleeeaaase join band again! I know you miss it! Everyone must help me talk her into it.)
Overall, I think Hogan did very well. Better than when I was in it, at any rate. Vallejo High was, well, fantastic, as usual. I'm allowed to say that now 'cause I don't go to Hogan anymore. Heh. Their band even does formation, which not a lot of bands do...that I've seen, lately. The main attraction was Vallejo High's colorguard, now that was fun to watch!
Whew, a fun morning of music and an evening of live theatre.
I love the arts.
