I spoil myself too much

So... I just splurged on an iPod Touch! A used one but it works like new (I'm covering up the scratches on the back with a case!)
It's a 3rd gen - mostly because I don't need the camera or video that comes with the new ones. And it's cheaper! I got 32g this time because I kept running out of space on my old 2nd gen nano.
I need some app suggestions!
I already have 4square, games like mancala and yahtzee, and a pdf reader!
Preferably free but if it's something TOTALLY AWESOME that I can't live without, I'd probably buy it :D
Please halp!

on 2011-03-18 12:07 am (UTC)You obviously need AIM and Facebook apps. There is also a twitter app, but I can't get it to work for me.
Most my apps are free, or cheap. I'll get the lite version and then upgrade if I like it a lot. I currently have:
GameBox
APPZILLA
Canasta Lite
Cribbage
Pounce
Plants vs Zombies
The Sims 3
Catan
The Impossible Quiz
Boxed In
GoGoGadget
Dino Rush
Frog Toss
Solitaire Pro
Slice It
Merrium Webster Dictionary
Ebay
Amazon
Zombie Farm
Mega Jump
776 Facts
App Dream
Castle War
Urban Ninja
Stack the States
iBookshelf
Obviously it is based on taste.
You MUST have Plants vs Zombies. I think it's free, but even if it isn't, you must have it.
Sims 3 is not worth it. Which is ironic because that is the reason I got my iTouch to begin with. There's another Sims game, but after this one being sucky, I've been afraid to try it.
Gamebox and Appzilla are really cheap and you get lots of apps with it. They aren't AWESOME, but they can be helpful, especially Appzilla because it has a WIDE VARIETY of apps. And even if you only use one or two of the apps, it's worth the dollar fee.
I love Canasta and Cribbage, so I love those apps.
Pounce is a decent app, but I like playing it with real cards better so I don't use it much.
Catan app is pretty good if you like Settlers of Catan and don't have people to play with. The only issue I have with it is that you can't play with someone else on two different iTouches. You have to use the same one. But other than that I have no complaints.
The Impossible quiz is vexing. Play it online to see if you like it, and if you do it's nice to be able to play it whenever.
Boxed In is a typical puzzle game. It can be quite difficult, but enjoyable.
I am horrible at GoGoGadget, but if you are good you can get copies of the original cartoon episodes, so I keep it around.
Dino Rush is pretty much the same thing.
Frog Toss is amusing for about two seconds. But can be a good diversion when you are SO TIRED.
Solitare Pro is awesome. it has about a million games with rules. After playing with the lite version for forever I splurged and got the full version, and haven't regretted it.
Slice It! is a lot of fun with geometry. (but isn't traumatizing)
Zombie Farm is sort of like Farmville except you GROW ZOMBIES OUT OF THE GROUND. I am sort of mad at it right now so I don't know if I reccomend it, but I think it's free so you can get it and judge for yourself.
Mega Jump is..too difficult for me. But if you like it you should look into Doodle Jump, because that's the same concept.
776 facts is GREAT for when you're bored.
I don't use App Dream much so I can't testify for it. Same for Castle Wars
Urban Ninja is pretty awesome. And Cows In Space is awesome too - made by the same company.
Stack the States is GREAT if you want to know more about the states. I've learned lots. There's also a lite version of it.
I just got iBookshelf today so I'm not reeeally sure, but it looks promising.
Also everyone is playing Angry Birds. I don't really understand the appeal, but everyone around me loves it so, there's that.
Pandora is also popular and a good app, although it isn't helpful to me.
I've had lots of apps in the time I've had my iTouch, but those are what I have ATM. I'll add more as I remember them.

on 2011-03-18 05:27 am (UTC)I've heard a lot about plants vs. zombies...didn't realize it was an app!
I saw the Catan app too, but skipped over it, but I think I will give it a try.
I heard about Pandora too, but when the reviews said there were tons of ads, I skipped it but the reviews might have been exaggerated :)
Hopefully I won't get too addicted to Angry Birds like everyone I've talked to, we'll see!
Thanks so much! I'm gonna go be distracted and look at all these now :D

on 2011-03-18 12:54 pm (UTC)There are ads on Pandora, but it's basically the same as when you use it on the computer. They are annoying, but not enough so that you stop using the program in frustration.
I hope you have fun! Let me know what you think of them!
