The show was amazing last night, too bad the tickets are expensive because I want to go see it again!

It was almost like seeing RENT for the first time because of all the differences between the movie and the stage.

Again I curse Chris Columbus, he cut out a lot of humor that's in the stage version.

Anyway, we drove to Concord first and then took BART into San Francisco, it was quite an adventure....I've never been on BART before. We only had to walk two blocks to get to the theatre, but with heels on it seemed like a much longer walk ;)

We got orchestra tickets because the only other seats were in the mezzanine and I hate the view from the mezzanine. We were in row T off to the right and someone tall sat in front of me so I had to tilt my head to the side all night :( But it was worth it!

It was different seeing Mark with dark hair! He did a very good job, 'Rent' was so high energy I was smiling through the entire song. Actually, I smiled through most of the first act :D

Roger was so tall! He had a great voice, 'One Song Glory' was fantastic as was everything else he sang.

Mimi's 'Light My Candle' was really good, but I wasn't very fond of her other songs, she sounded a little too squeaky for me. She's a great actress though.

Collins and Angel were so cute! They both had dreads except when Angel put on the wig, of course. They had great chemistry and great voices. I loved them :D

Maureen and Joanne both had powerhouse voices, 'Take Me or Leave Me' was incredible and was easily my favorite song of the night.

Now. Maureen's protest was THE BEST. EVER. Even better than the one in the movie. I was giggling through the entire thing and when Maureen says 'Moo with me' the sound of mooing was heard through the theatre. Everyone was really getting into it, talk about audience participation.

[livejournal.com profile] ginnaveve was looking forward to 'What You Own', it's one of my favorite songs too and it was very enjoyable.

I'm sure I've mentioned before how WEAK I am when it comes to shiny things, well...

I HAD to get Elsie the cow! (Maybe I should mention that I changed my AIM so that when someone signs on, it makes a mooing sound) Her shirt says 'Moo with me' with the RENT logo. The book at the bottom of the picture is a kind of program with the history of the show and pictures of the original braodway cast.

If you ever get a chance to see it live, you should! It's a great experience. There is so much
missing from the movie, like more backstory, more humor and a lot more songs!
