Prompt - Bonfire

Kerris carried their household's kindling tribute this year since he was one of the flame gifted who had been selected to light the solstice bonfire. The kindling was placed in a large circle by a member from each household, building up the pile of firewood until each family had placed their own. Kerris could feel Nolan's presence behind him as he waited for the lighting ceremony.

The other flame gifted gathered around, guardians close by. As one they each lifted a hand and, after a moment, let a stream of fire hit the bonfire directly in front of them. The wood went up immediately to the cheers of the gathered crowd. The music began playing then and Nolan grabbed Kerris by the waist to spin him around the fire as everyone joined in the dancing.

The next morning, after the fire had burned alongside nightlong merriment, Kerris would light a torch from the remains of the fire and he and Nolan would return home to light their hearth anew.
